You want to offer something unique to the market: an unique product or an unique solution that meet your client needs and which is easy to process. In case you develop polymer based end-products, the composition and micro-structure of the material play a vital role. Within the SPIC cluster you can find the right equipment but also experienced professionals to help you develop compounds.

Compounding basically means adding additives to the polymer melt in an extruder with the objective to improve properties such as stability, mechanical properties, induction or chemical resistance. Besides additives, also different polymers can be mixed in the melt phase to create a polymeric compound that creates a synergy between the different polymers and their properties. To select the right polymers and additives and compound them to a homogenous product requires expertized equipment and also design and execution experienced professionals.

The compounding step results in granulates that can be an input for different extrusion processes or injection molding to make functional products.
Extrusion is a process of manufacturing long products of constant cross-section (rods, sheets, pipes, films, wire insulation coating, fibers, monofilaments) forcing melted polymer through a die.
Within the SPIC cluster several technologies for extrusion are avialble, as also machinery for injection moulding.
