Twists are applied in multifilament yarns to add strength to the yarn. There is an optimum in the amount of twists per meter. This optimum is dependent on the polymer type and the diameter of the yarn. The amount of twists (in S and Z direction) can be determined in a single yarn and in cord constructions. All measurements are standard done at 5 specimen (n=5) and average values are reported. A minimum specimen length of 100 cm is required.
