Decades of experience combined with the right equipment

The different partners within the SPIC cluster have decades of experience with the development and the production of polyesters and polyamides.
Due to this background there is a strong focus on polycondensation as a polymerization technology. Development and production of other polymerization techniques, such as ring opening or radical polymerization are less applied.

Within the cluster you can perform research on polycondensation reactions and then upscale it all the way up to (specialty) production batches.
At the SPIC facilities you can work on the polymerization and depolymerization of e.g. the following (bio)polymers.

(bio)Polyester like materials, such as: PET, PEF, PBS, PEN, PBT
(bio)Polyamide like materials

Most of the polymerization activities at SPIC focus on either the polymerization of biobased monomers and catalyzers or on chemical recycling.
Chemical recycling means the depolymerization of recycled plastics. The newly obtained monomers are cleaned and purified and can then be polymerized to obtain a virgin like material. test
