Melt flow testing is a straightforward method of characterizing the flow properties of plastic melted mass. This test method is widely used, especially in quality assurance and goods inwards testing. The Zwick 4160 is a semi-automatic system for measuring the MFI/MVR according to, for instance, ISO 1133 standard. The desired weight is put on the plunger automatically and 3 samples are cut off based on the volume flow. The temperature is adjustable and the measuring time is recorded for each sample. After measuring the weight of each sample, the MFI, the MVR and the melt density is being calculated.
