Within the SPIC cluster facilites for small scale research on polycondensation are offered als also production facilities. A pilot plant for polycondensation is now a missing link. The SPIC-Emmen partners are now considering the investment in a polycondensation pilot plant with the following specifications:

• 150 liter reactor(s)
• Temperature up to 300 C
• Pressure up to 100 bar
• Viscosity up to 1.000 Pa.s

The facility will be ideal for the polymerization of the following (bio)polymers:

• (bio)Polyester like materials, such as:
  PET, PEF, PBS, PEN, PBT
• (bio)Polyamide like materials

In addition the facility can be used for research on depolymerization for chemical recycling efforts.

The reactor will produces batches between 25 to 75kg.
This is an ideal size to obtain material for first processing trials and performance measurement.
