Solid State Polymerization (SSP) is a process in which the polymer chain lengths are increased by heat in the absence of oxygen and water, in this case by means of vacuum
At SPIC Emmen the following two production facilities offer SSP services.

Cumapol (with continuous SSP line )

In 2010 Cumapol started up the SSP lines as toll converter. Most applications require a high IV polyester in order to increase the end-product’s strength. The regranulated or compounded granulates can be upgraded to an IV of maximum 1.5. For batches Of >100MT we make use of our continuous line which is working under nitrogen. Smaller batches can be processed on our vacuum tumble dryer production line

Morssinkhof (tumble dryers)

Morssinkhof has an extensive park of tumble dryers for the crystallization, drying and/or post condensation of PET, PBT, PEN and PA. Typicall tumble dryer size is 7 MT which can be operated in a semi-continious way.
